Transferring your ticket

Can't make it, or bought a ticket for a friend under your own name? You can hand a ticket you're holding to someone else, right from the app. You start it, our ticketing team finishes it, and both of you get an email when it's done.

Before you start

  • The person you're giving the ticket to needs to be signed up in the app. If they're not yet, they can make an account in a minute — then you'll be able to find them.
  • You can only pass on a ticket that's valid and matched to you. If your ticket isn't showing up as yours, it's usually because the email on the ticket isn't on your profile yet — add it under Profile → Emails and it'll match. (See Tickets for more on matching.)

How to do it

Go to Tickets → Transfers (the /Tickets/Transfers page). You'll see a short wizard:

  1. Pick the ticket you want to pass on, from the list of tickets you're holding.
  2. Pick the person you're giving it to. (It can't be yourself.)
  3. Check the summary — it shows the ticket and the person's name and email so you can make sure it's the right one. You can add a short note about why if you like.
  4. Send the request.

That's your part done. You'll see a message that the request is in, and our ticketing team takes it from there.

What happens next

  • Your request goes to the ticketing team. They do the actual swap with the ticket seller and mark it complete.
  • Both you and the person receiving it get an email letting you know it went through.
  • Once it's done, the ticket shows up as theirs (and stops showing as yours) the next time the app syncs with the ticket seller — usually within a few minutes.

Changing your mind

While a transfer is still waiting to be processed, you can cancel it yourself on the same Tickets → Transfers page — just hit cancel next to the pending request. Once the ticketing team has completed it, it's done and can't be undone from the app (you'd have to arrange a fresh transfer back).

If you're wondering… Here's the answer
The person I want to give it to isn't in the app Ask them to sign up first — then they'll show up when you pick a recipient
My ticket isn't in the list It's probably matched to a different email. Add that email under Profile → Emails and it'll appear
How long does it take? The ticketing team processes it by hand, so it's not instant — you'll get an email when it's done
Can I take it back? Only while it's still pending (cancel it yourself). After it's completed, you'd need to arrange a new transfer the other way
Can I transfer to someone outside the org? They need a Humans account to receive it — signing up is quick and free
