Two-step verification (2FA)
Two-step verification — sometimes called 2FA or 2-Step Verification — is just one extra check when you sign in. After your password, it asks for a second thing that only you have: usually a tap or a number on your phone. That way, if someone ever guessed or stole your password, they still couldn't get in without your phone in their hand.
It's the single biggest thing that keeps an account safe, which is why we turn it on for everyone.
What it applies to
This is about your @nobodies.team Google account — your org email and
anything Google (Gmail, shared drives, calendars). It is required on that
account, and you'll be walked through setting it up the very first time you sign
in to it.
It is not about getting into the Humans app itself. You get into the app with
a one-time login link or by clicking "sign in with Google" — there's no separate
password to protect there. (More on that in
Signing in & getting unstuck.) So when we talk about 2FA, we mean
your @nobodies.team email account.
Setting it up
Most people set it up during their first sign-in, because Google prompts you. If you skipped it or want to check it:
- Sign in to your
@nobodies.teamaccount at myaccount.google.com. - Open Security on the left.
- Find 2-Step Verification and follow the steps.
When it asks how you'd like to do the second step, the two easiest choices are:
- A prompt on your phone — Google sends a "Is this you? Yes/No" tap to a phone you're already signed in on. Nothing to type.
- An authenticator app — a free app (Google Authenticator, Authy, and others) that shows a 6-digit code that changes every 30 seconds.
Either is fine. Pick whichever feels less fiddly to you.
Always set up a backup
Phones get lost, replaced, and dropped in the desert. Set up at least one backup now, while you're already in there, so a dead phone never locks you out:
- Backup codes — Google gives you a list of one-time codes. Save them somewhere safe (write them down, or keep them in a password manager). Each one gets you in once if your phone isn't available.
- A second method — e.g. a second phone, or a partner's phone as a backup prompt.
If you get locked out
Don't panic, and don't make a second account.
- If you saved backup codes, use one of those to get in.
- No backup codes and no phone? Email
humans@nobodies.team or use the help button in
the app (the round button, bottom-right). An admin can help sort out your
@nobodies.teamaccount from the Google side.
