Humans — User Guide

This is the end-user guide for the Humans app. It covers what each section is for and how to use it, organized by role (Volunteer → Coordinator → Board / Admin) within each section. If you're new, start with Getting Started.

For developer-facing invariants and architecture, see docs/sections/ and docs/architecture/.

What the Humans app is

The Humans app is the Nobodies Collective Association's central portal for everyone involved in Elsewhere — volunteers, coordinators, barrio leads, and association members. It's where you create your profile, sign the required legal agreements, join a team, sign up for shifts, and access shared resources.

It exists because managing who has access to what — team rosters, shared drives, email groups, shift sign-ups — through spreadsheets and manual sharing creates a real admin burden and a real GDPR risk. The app handles that automatically: join a team, you get the right access. Leave a role, it's removed. No spreadsheets, no manual sharing, no data sitting somewhere it shouldn't.

The code is fully public (AGPL-3.0) so any developer in the community can read, run, or maintain it. Backups are automated and the server is designed to run with minimal maintenance — not dependent on any one person. AI was used as a tool to build the app faster. The app itself uses AI in just one place — an optional in-app helper you can chat with for support; nothing else relies on it.

The app is at humans.nobodies.team, available in English, Español, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, and Català. Questions go to humans@nobodies.team or #🧘-humans-app on Discord.
